The University of Toledo is a student-centered, public metropolitan research university with 20,500 students and campuses recognized nationally for their beauty. The Toledo Rockets are the intercollegiate athletic teams that represent the University of Toledo. The Rockets compete at the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I level as a member of the Mid-American Conference. The school's colors are midnight blue and gold. On October 12, 1872, Jesup Wakeman Scott founded The University of Toledo as a private arts and trades school known as Toledo University of Arts and Trades, offering painting and architectural drawing as its only subjects.
