Bookkeeper / Staff Accountant

Cleveland, OH (Onsite or Hybrid Options Available)

About the Opportunity

A well-established and growing public accounting firm in the Cleveland area is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Staff Accountant to join their team. Position Overview

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with clients, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting a variety of accounting functions in a fast-paced public accounting environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts for multiple clients
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Support payroll processing and related reporting
  • Communicate directly with clients to gather financial data and address inquiries
  • Assist with cleanup projects and process improvements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • 2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience (public accounting experience is a plus)
  • Strong understanding of core accounting principles
  • Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks or similar platforms preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills with a client-service mindset
