a premier supplier located in Dayton who needs someone who doesn’t just "lay beads"—you are mastering the art of the airtight weld on a variety of scales, from intricate custom fittings to heavy-gauge industrial ducting that must withstand extreme pressures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Precision Fabrication: Perform high-quality MIG and TIG welding on various gauges of sheet metal and heavy plate (up to 1/4" thickness).
- Blueprint Translation: Interpret complex shop drawings and submittal forms to ensure every fitting is built to exact customer specifications.
- Airtight Performance: Execute continuous "long-seam" welds and circumferential welds on spiral and oval ducting, ensuring a leak-proof finish.
- Fit-Up & Jigging: Use clamps, fixtures, and custom jigs to align components perfectly before welding, maintaining tight dimensional tolerances.
- Material Mastery: Adjust machine settings and gas mixtures to account for the unique challenges of welding galvanized steel (avoiding porosity) and stainless steel (managing heat tint).
- Post-Weld Finishing: Clean and grind welds as necessary to meet the high visual standards of industrial and architectural clients.
Why This Role is For You:
- Technical Breadth: You’ll work with MIG, TIG, and Pulse welding processes across a variety of metals, including galvanized, stainless steel, and aluminum.
- Complex Builds: Forget simple repetitive tasks. You’ll be building 10-foot diameter industrial systems, complex square-to-round transitions, and structural frames.
- Pride in Craft: In the ductwork industry, a weld isn't just a joint; it's a seal. You’ll be part of an elite team that ensures zero-leak performance for critical infrastructure.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- Process Expertise: Proficiency in MIG (GMAW) and TIG (GTAW) welding; experience with "Pulse" welding is a significant plus.
- Visual Standards: The ability to produce "stack-of-dimes" quality welds on visible architectural components.
- Industrial Stamina: Experience working on large-scale fabrications and the ability to maneuver heavy-gauge materials safely.
