As a Pharmacy Technician, you play an essential role in keeping patients safe and comfortable throughout their experience. This caregiver would work 5, 8 hour shifts per week. Rotating day/evening/possibly nights (if coverage is needed)/weekends/holidays. Shifts are 6am-2:30pm, 7:30am-4pm, 11:30am-8pm, 1pm-9:30pm, 8pm-6am (less common, night shift). No on call requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.
  • Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Document regulatory requirements, including temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.
  • Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.
  • Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Understanding of algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds

Must meet all of the following license and certification combination requirements at the time of application:

  • Must hold an active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP).

Please note: A status as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee with OBOP does not qualify for this role. However, please visit the apprenticeship program to express interest: )

  • It is required, within 18 months from the date of hire: Must obtain a national certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) AND Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Six months of hospital experience
  • Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program
  • Prior inpatient experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, walking, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing, and compounding.

Personal Protective Equipment:

- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
